About Rick Lamb

Rick's first cowboy periodRick Lamb was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas. He had a passionate interest in horses from an early age but few opportunities to be around them. Instead, he focused on music, turning pro at 14.
Rock star or librarian?
As a teenager, Rick operated a newspaper route and became an Eagle Boy Scout. In college, he played music in night clubs and worked days at the city library. In 1973, he graduated cum laude from Wichita State University, with majors in Math and Philosophy.

Rick and Diana in the studioAfter graduation, Rick programmed mainframe computers for several years before starting 
Lambchops Studios, a commercial audio recording business, in Phoenix. During the next two decades, he was recognized repeatedly for his composing and producing skills.

NewlywedsIn 1990, Rick married long-time friend, actress Diana Baines, and in 1997, they launched The Horse Show with Rick Lamb, a weekly syndicated radio program. The program quickly found an audience on radio and the Internet, and was joined by The Horse Show Minute, a daily radio feature, in 1999.

Hosting at Road to the HorseBy 2003, Rick had racked up six awards for his radio shows and established himself as an emcee for live events, including the popular colt-starting contest, Road to the Horse. That year Rick and Dr. Robert M. Miller also landed a contract to write what has become a seminal work on natural horse training, 
The Revolution in Horsemanship.

Rick and Candy in Montana2005 brought three more industry awards for The Horse Show and Rick's second book,
Horse Smarts for the Busy Rider. 2006 ushered in a new era with Rick's move to RFD-TV and more awards for that work. Rick's third book, Human to Horseman: a Journey of Discovery, Growth, and Celebration, was released in 2008. 

Today, Rick stays busy with TV, radio, writing, and doctoral studies.  He and Diana live in Phoenix with their horses, Candy and Fidla, and cat, Angus. They have three grown children, Ryan, Todd, and Blair.
